Don't Live in Fear

My voice is a little hoarse today.

It's one of two things.

Either allergies...

or the fact that I screamed so hard at my son's robotics competition, and we got 9th place!

I'm so excited.

You might wonder why I'm so excited for 9th place?

Well, compared to last year — they were 30 something — it is a major leap forward.

It's like a whole new team.

They are growing exponentially.

And I know some of y'all are having a really hard time because of the election, and stepping into fear.

But I want to encourage you.

You can be happy no matter what the situation.

If you're upset about something, do something about it.

And then allow yourself to step back into joy.

Don't let yourself live in fear.

Enjoy 9th place at the robotics competition.

Be Brave (Step Out of your Comfort Zone)

Today, I want to talk to you about being brave – putting yourself out there.

There are going to be critics. Often, they are scared to do what you're doing.

And they will try to bring you down.

A good example is once I interpreted the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) conference.

This means you're an interpreter who is interpreting for an audience full of interpreters.

This can be incredibly intimidating. Some of are critical about what you do.

But you know what?

I got out there. I did it. I was brave.

And I felt great about doing what I loved and pushing myself to grow.

Many people wouldn't step into that. They'd let the fear stop them.

So, be brave. Do what you love.

And when it comes to critics? Keep in mind that they're not doing it. They're not growing. They're only condemning.

That's not you. You're brave!

Get out there, be confident, and do something to step out of your comfort zone.

I hope you have an amazing day!

Befriending Your Fear

overcoming fear May 01, 2019

I want to teach you to overcome any fear you have.

What can you do?

You can wrap your arms around it and say THANK YOU for being in my life.

Does this sound crazy?

Absolutely!

But I want you to control fear instead of fear controlling you.

There is a story about a little girl who ran up to her mom and said, “He’s chasing me! He’s chasing me! What do I do? And the mom says, “Stop running.”

That is what I want you to do. I want you to stop running from things that scare you. Wrap your arms around your fear and say, “I know this means I am growing. It doesn’t mean I can’t. It simply means I haven’t.”

Love your fear. Befriend your fear. Have gratitude because this means that you are on the green growing edge of the greatness you were meant to become.

Love your fear, and it will no longer control you.
